I wasn't complaining about the crowded bus. My point was that we are given the impression that the routes being cut or reduced were selected because they'd inconvenience the least amount of people. My bus is always full.

RTA's funding was severely cut. I get that. I'm sorry. But removing easy access to downtown from the west side stinks. We riders now have less than a month to figure out a new schedule and account for transferring to the Red Line. In winter. In Cleveland. Great timing.

The least RTA could do is post the time tables for the new routes.

Oh well, I'll be sure to say "Hello" to Joe next time I see him on the bus.

Question: Do you think Joe Calabrese has ever ridden one of his own buses?

Answer: Yes, he has. When Joe and his wife were shopping for a home in spring 2000, transit was one of their considerations. They bought a home in Westlake. Joe often (3-4 times a week) drives to the Westlake Park-N-Ride, and rides a bus from there to downtown. Or he may drive east on I-90, park at the Triskett Station, and take the rail in.

Joe Calabrese is a 30-year transit professional. He takes transit as often as his schedule allows, and he encourages other staffers to do so as well. RTA employees ride RTA trains and buses more than 1 million times each year.

Buses and trains are crowded because RTA lacks the financial resources to place more service on the routes. To remedy that, please urge your state legislators to restore the 63 percent in state funding that was cut under the previous Governor.

If you have time to post on a blog, I hope you have time to write your legislators.
