In an effort to get into the Halloween spirit this year (it’s been 80 degrees all week long – not exactly fall weather) we decided to watch ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ tonight.
While we watched I wandered around the apartment and captured some of this years Halloween decorations.
I wish we had more. But we’re getting better.

Halloween pictures are posted in the gallery. Some pics are really blury. In my defense, while I was trying to get a few good shots of some of the decorated houses and yards, I realized that if I used the flash – it turned out too bright – it just looked like it was daytime. Not the effect I wanted.
So I turned off the flash and tried real hard to hold very still until the shutter closed.
Apparently I can’t hold still very well. Oh well, in most cases you can tell what the picture was supposed to be. In others… I’ll just say that those pictures were corrupted by Halloween spirits!!

Tonight we carved pumpkins. Later than usual, we had a hard time finding good pumpkins this year for a decent price until just the other night. It’s just as well, though, because this year they won’t be all rotten and soft and stinky before Halloween!
Ashley carved her own for the first time this year – freehand! (hers is on the left), I free-handed mine, as usual (middle) and Carrie found herself nice template and did some pretty sweet detail work (on the right)

Just in time too, I was almost poisoned last year by a candy bar that wasn’t properly wrapped. Luckily I lost it the haunted house that was so scary no one has ever finished it. It’s OK though, I got lucky that night after switching costumes with a buddy of mine at a party…
